THE LAST ODYSSEY
In an airport like many in the world, many passengers are stranded due to force majeure. The waiting area is full of passengers: all flights have been cancelled.
This impatient crowd, unable to reach their respective destinations, does not suspect that another journey will begin, in the imagination and introspection.
In this airport, a character awaits, Ulysses, the great hero of Homer, who desires only one thing: to return home to find his beloved in Ithaca after ten years of wandering.
Accompanying Ulysses is Argo, who sings his hopes and sorrows. Ulysses will relive his most exciting adventures, embarking with him, the travelers, and the airport staff into history and imagination.
The Odyssey, one of the absolute masterpieces of classical literature, comes to life before our eyes in an hybridization in which poetry mixes with music, dance, singing, and performance.
Giuliano Peparini – Director
In this modern work, Ulysses is represented as a contemporary man who faces the same challenges as the legendary hero of Homer, becoming a myth accessible to all audiences.
One of the most moving texts of our canon, the Odyssey condenses all the most intense emotions: the desperate attachment to life, the overwhelming hatred and unconditional love, the unbridled passion and cold calculation, the fear and pain of loss, nostalgia and the thirst for knowledge. This show is a triumph of all these emotions, which come to life through the voices of the performers and thanks to the bodies of the performers.
THE CRUEL
CYCLOPS
“CICLOPE!
if you want to give us hospitality, or offer us any other gift
As is customary among guests.
Oh Lord, respect the gods: we are your suppliants.
And Zeus, the avenger of suppliants and guests,
the hospitable god who accompanies guests and guarantees their respect.”
The original music that accompanies the show was specially created by the folk-rock inspired Canadian group Reuben and the Dark, led by Reuben Bullock, whose music mixes introspective lyrics with the impetuous rhythm and complex harmonies of his band.
