DOLCE & GABBANA

FASHION SHOW HIGH FASHION

2022 | Syracuse, Italy

Between
dance
and
myth

for DOLCE & GABBANA

Ten years after their first haute couture collection, again inaugurated in Sicily, Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce wanted the Sicilian style that has become so iconic for their brand to be the protagonist.

In the same way, the choreographed pieces by Giuliano Peparini for the pre-show aimed to distil the Sicilian culture and tradition, through moments that brought an unmissable spectacle to the Piazza del Duomo in Ortigia.

At the centre of the performance that preceded the show was a re-enactment of Pietro Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. Fashion and drama merged together to give a vivid representation of the traditions and deep passion of Sicily and its people, exalted not only in its ability to evoke stories but also in its craftsmanship, which dates back centuries and centuries.

“It was a work of artistic collaboration and trust with the brand, I worked closely with them, preparing myself for the setup of the various evenings.”

“Stefano and Domenico love art and are linked to culture; it is always beautiful and stimulating to talk to skilful people who are passionate about their work”.

The preparation of the dancers

From makeup to wigs, to the preparation of performance dresses by Dolce & Gabbana. The attention to every detail is what makes the difference of a unique style.

Details

The square of the Duomo di Ortigia does not usually appear as it did during this performance. To enhance the show, Giuliano Peparini studied and designed an additional part with the team of set designers, consisting of balustrades and staircases that had not existed before.
The final result is so rich in realistic details that it seems as if those elements had always existed in the architectural complex of the square.

High jewellery

AT THE GROTTA DEI CORDARI

A number of other events marked the week of haute couture.

Amongst them, the staging of a performance in the spectacular Cave of the Cordari of Syracuse for the event dedicated to Fine Jewellery. The scene, inspired by the myth of Arethusa, blended the classical myth and breathtaking scenery with lights and flowers.

This performance was also curated by Giuliano Peparini.

Closing event

CASTELLO MANIACE

A performance was also developed for the closing event dedicated to all the show’s guests.

A series of choreographed pieces, combined with the music of DJ Cassidy, made for an electrifying show.
